Colin's serious lad points

So the Oscars (83rd Academy Awards), hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, got down and dirty last night as the creme de la creme of the entertainment world showed up to honour the past year's films.

Unsurprisingly 'The King's Speech' did very well nabbing Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Director and Original Screenplay.

Being nudged out last year by Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth's captivating portrayal of George VI' s battle against his stammer has well and truly been very deserved. Tom Hooper was also honoured for his vision in bringing this fantastic tale to life and duly accepted, but not before thanking his mother who apparently was the main reason for the film's inception.

Other winners included:

Christian Bale - Best Supporting Actor - The Fighter
Natalie Portman - Best Actress - Black Swan
Melissa Leo - Best Supporting Actress - The Fighter
Aaron Sorkin - Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay - The Social Network

Sadly the Coen's Bros' mighty 'True Grit' didn't get any gongs...

There is always next year.

Shikari's Studio Sessions

This is exciting...

These 4 lads are back in the studio conjuring up new ways to make lovely noise. Most likely to be previewed soon-ish whilst jumping up and down like crack induced jack in a boxes on stage.

The St. Albans rave-core outfit have begun work on their 3rd album and while no actual songs are sampled in this short clip, (below) here's hoping that they will continue on the momentum of the brilliant 2nd album, 'Common Dreads' and produce an absolute gem of dance-infused-rock.

Watch here as the boys seem to be taking their precious time (much to our disdain) with coming up with the perfect way to create the most splendid sound.

Enjoy.

X-Men: First Class is Revealed

YES!

...just MEGA yes!

So I am most likely only excited about this because I am a HUGE fan of the films and comics/original cartoons and while the exceptionally abysmal first X-Men Origins film lacked actual depth and convincing acting, this trailer seems promising.

Character's such as Professor X, Magneto, Beast and Mystique will be making appearances alongside new characters and with Matthew Vaughn (Kick-ass, Layer Cake) at the helm of this project, worriers among you (myself included) need not be so cautious about another X-Men film.

Be prepared for icy goodness!

While it has been long overdue, this return is probably going to be the most anticipated release in gaming history.

What am I talking about?

The news of SSX: Deadly Descents of course.

However, this extremely good news has been met with scepticism. Many gamers and fans of the old games who have seen the release trailer have branded it as SSX meets Call Of Duty.

Here's the a sneak peek of what's to come. Take a look and see what you think.

First POST!!

So this is the first post on my new blog.

Not about anything in particular except about this being my first post.
What excitement.

I do however have some exciting news concerning a 5-piece band hailing from Wales. The Blackout's third  offering, appropriately titled 'Hope' must be showcasing their belief in their latest effort.

The album is due to be in April. For the tracklisting for the album there is a link here to Rocksound's website giving you full details www.rocksound.tv/news/article/the-blackout-unveil-artwork-and-tracklisting-for-hope.

There is also information on their upcoming tour www.myspace.com/theblackout which begins this February.
